Scripture
We believe the Bible is God’s Word and the final authority for Christian faith and practice.
Benchmark Baptist Fellowship is a Bible-believing church. Our faith and practice are shaped by Scripture and centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our faith centers on Jesus Christ and the gospel. These beliefs guide our worship, teaching, and life together.
We believe the Bible is God’s Word and the final authority for Christian faith and practice.
We believe in one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, our Savior and Lord, whose life, death, and resurrection are at the center of the gospel.
We believe every person is made in the image of God and that sin separates humanity from God and creates our need for salvation.
We believe salvation is the gift of God’s grace, received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ rather than earned by human works.
We believe the church is the family of believers gathered around Christ to worship, learn, pray, serve, encourage one another, and make disciples.
We believe Christ gave these ordinances to His church as visible acts of obedience, remembrance, and testimony.
We believe Christians are called to grow through Scripture, prayer, fellowship, obedience, service, generosity, and mission.
We believe Jesus Christ will return and that our hope is ultimately rooted in Him and His eternal kingdom.
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the trustworthy foundation for what we believe, how we live, and how we understand God’s will for our lives. Scripture is not merely something we study; it is meant to shape us, correct us, encourage us, and lead us into faithful obedience.
Benchmark’s teaching has consistently been framed around being “Centered on Jesus. Grounded in Scripture,” with the Bible described as God’s Word and the foundation for faith and life.
We believe in one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is holy, loving, just, merciful, sovereign, and worthy of our worship and trust.
He is the Creator of all things and the One in whom our lives find their meaning and purpose.
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, the Son of God who came into the world to reveal the Father and save sinners.
Jesus lived without sin, willingly died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and physically rose from the dead. He is our Savior, risen Lord, and our only hope for reconciliation with God. Benchmark’s earlier teaching language explicitly describes Jesus as fully God, fully man, Savior, risen Lord, and the only hope for salvation.
We believe every person is created by God with dignity and value, but humanity has been separated from God by sin.
Sin affects every part of our lives and cannot be overcome simply through good behavior, religion, or personal effort. We need the grace and forgiveness of God.
We believe salvation is the gift of God’s grace made possible through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
A person is reconciled to God through repentance and faith in Jesus—not by earning salvation through works.
The gospel calls us to trust Christ, receive His forgiveness, and begin a new life of following Him. The Benchmark teaching material consistently connects the gospel with sin, grace, the cross, resurrection, repentance, and faith in Jesus.
We believe the Holy Spirit is present and active in the life of every believer.
The Spirit convicts us of sin, draws us toward Christ, gives spiritual life, helps us understand Scripture, strengthens us in prayer, develops Christlike character, and empowers us to live faithfully.
Christianity is not merely knowing truths about God. It is a life transformed by God.
We believe the church is more than a building or a Sunday gathering. It is a family of believers joined together in Christ.
We gather to worship, study Scripture, pray, encourage one another, serve, grow in faith, and carry the gospel into the world.
The earlier Benchmark teaching puts this especially well: the church is a family gathered around Jesus, shaped by Scripture, strengthened through prayer, and sent to love and serve.
We believe baptism is an outward expression of an inward faith in Jesus Christ.
It is a public declaration that a believer belongs to Christ and desires to follow Him in obedience.
Baptism does not earn salvation; it testifies to the salvation already received through faith in Christ.
We believe the Lord’s Supper is a sacred remembrance given to the church by Jesus.
Through it, believers remember His body given for us, His blood shed for us, and the new covenant established through His sacrifice.
It points us back to the cross and forward to Christ’s return.
We believe prayer is real communion with God.
We pray because God hears us, because Jesus taught us to pray, and because prayer changes us as we bring our fears, needs, gratitude, questions, and desires before Him.
We do not believe faithful Christians are promised lives without suffering. We believe God remains present and faithful even when His purposes are difficult to understand.
We believe following Jesus is a lifelong journey of discipleship.
A disciple learns the Word of God, obeys Christ, repents when they fall, grows through prayer and fellowship, serves others, practices generosity, and increasingly reflects the character of Jesus.
Benchmark’s earlier discipleship material emphasizes worship, Scripture, prayer, fellowship, service, generosity, repentance, and mission as part of faithful Christian formation.
We believe Jesus calls His church to hold grace and truth together.
Every person who walks through our doors has dignity and worth and should be treated with compassion, honesty, patience, and love.
We do not believe our calling is to pretend sin does not matter, nor do we believe our calling is to condemn people from a distance. Our calling is to point people toward Jesus, walk alongside them, teach Scripture faithfully, and trust the Holy Spirit to work in their lives.
We recognize that sincere Christians may reach different conclusions on some secondary issues while remaining united around the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our desire is not to create unnecessary division, but to approach difficult questions prayerfully, biblically, humbly, and with love for one another.
We believe Jesus Christ will return.
God will ultimately judge evil, make all things right, and bring His redemptive purposes to completion.
For those who belong to Christ, this is not a message of fear but of hope.
At Benchmark Baptist Fellowship, our desire is simple:
Know Christ.
Know His Word.
Walk together.
Live what we believe.
Share His hope with others.
We are not a church of people who have everything figured out. We are a church family seeking to follow Jesus faithfully, grow in grace, study the Scriptures honestly, pray earnestly, love people genuinely, and trust God with the journey.
If you want to talk through a belief, Scripture, baptism, salvation, or church membership, we would be glad to speak with you.
