How to Have Eternal Life!

Most people, at some point in their life, will inevitably ask themselves one or more questions. Some of the most challenging questions are those “questions of life”; such as, “How did I get here?”, “What is my purpose?”, and “What happens after I die?”.

Here at Benchmark, we are confident that God has given us the answers to all of life’s questions. In particular, he has answered all of the life questions noted earlier. God has answered those questions through His Holy Bible. Perhaps the most important of the answers that God has provided is the answer to the question, “What happens after I die?”

We would like to share just a bit of God’s answer with you in the next few moments. Thank you for your attention to the following thoughts and ideas from God’s Holy Word, the Bible.

First, we must realize that we will all in fact die.

Hebrews 9:27 says, “…it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

Second, we need to understand the cause of all death is sin.

Romans 5:16 tells us, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men”

Third, we must understand that each of us has and will sin.

Romans 3:23 says, For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Fourth, we must know that there is a penalty for our sin.

Romans 6:23 tells us in the first part of the verse that,For the wages of sin is death;

Then, we should understand that God has Himself paid that penalty.

The latter half of Romans 6:23 says, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. and Romans 5:8 tells us, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Finally, we must accept God’s gift of eternal life that was given to us.

Once we understand that Jesus’ death on the cross, His burial in the tomb, and His resurrection from the grave is God’s remedy for our sin problem, all we need to do to be assured that we have eternal life is to call upon His name. When we repent of our sins, and pray out to God asking to be delivered from the penalty of our sins, we have assurance that God in Heaven will honor that request; not because of our good thoughts or deeds, but because of what Jesus has done for us on the cross of Calvary. It is not we who save ourselves, but rather it is God who has shown mercy and grace toward us and provided Himself as a remedy for our sins. He is our Redeemer! Following are some additional bible verses that verify and validate what you are reading here. We encourage you to read them for yourself and then make an informed decision to accept Jesus as your savior who will give you eternal life!

Matthew 4:17 “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Ephesians 2:8-10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

1 John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

If you have read these words and understood your need, we encourage you to pray out to God, call on the name of Jesus, and BE SAVED TODAY!
